If you missed out on Day 1, Day 2, or Day 3, you’re not too late – check out my review of The Everything Gluten-Free Slow Cooker Cookbook,  my review of The Gluten-Free Edge, and my review of Super Healthy Cookies, and enter for your chances to win!

Today’s book, Nourishing Meals: Healthy Gluten-Free Recipes for the Whole Family by Alissa Segersten and Tom Malterre was the book that I loved to curl up with on the couch. After all, it’s a massive book with 300 incredible, healthy recipes.  Not that I’d expect anything different. Alissa and Tom have published another incredible book, The Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen, and I own that one and love it as well. Alissa and Tom really outdid themselves this time around though. There are recipes for breakfasts, tons of healthy bread recipes, smoothies, beverages, main meals, vegetables, salads, and more. I took out my sticky notes and marked at least a dozen and a half pages. These recipes all sounded so enticing.

Finally, though, I settled on making one to share. It was a Saturday morning and breakfast time at the Tasty Eats At Home household, and I wanted something a little special. However, it couldn’t be sweet – my husband really isn’t a fan of sweets, especially not for breakfast. So when I remembered that I’d marked a recipe for Coconut Flour Biscuits, I immediately snapped into action (okay, after a bit of coffee) and threw these together. They were easy to make, and even though they were grain and dairy-free, they were fluffy, moist, and tender. I enjoyed mine with some easy peach freezer jam, but they’d also be equally delightful with eggs and bacon or other, more savory fare.

I was just thinking I needed to try biscuits for this weekend! This book sounds great. My favorite healthy meal right now is a brown rice/bean bowl. A variety of vegetables/meat can be added to mix it up.

  13. Chrystal in Canada says

Sometimes a really good omlet is just the thing. My husband makes a really tasty broccoli and corn omlet and usually adds apple cider vinegar to the veggies as they cook up first. It adds a neat taste.

  14. Angela says

Love celerac soup loaded with lots of other veggies – so comforting. Also, green smooties hit the spot.
